Beyond Comments: The Purpose of Rethink forums

Postby Ashok on Tue Oct 23, 2007 8:13 am

My name's Ashok, I'm a doctoral student in political science, and I run a blog called Rethink that I'm very proud of.

I realized at some point that my readers and the readers of other like-minded blogs - blogs whosee authors discuss politics, movies, art, fiction, music in depth - well, those readers should have the opportunity of doing more than merely reading.

They should have the opportunity to set their own discussion, and talk amongst themselves, and form a community. They should be allowed to ask questions of blog authors on anything, not just on what is posted a particular day.

Comments are one way discussion: they're between the reader and the author. This is meant to turn commentary into a community.

I've invited friends who blog along similar topics and with similar intensity to moderate these forums, and invite their audiences here. I hope you'll enjoy all the blogs of those working as moderators, and more importantly enjoy each other's company and teach us all new things.
