Interview

Interview

Just went to see Interview last night- a really good but very dark film with Sienna Miller and Steve Buscemi- I enjoyed it a lot partly because of that darkness. At the end of the movie the attitude of it is summed up by the line that relationships aren't equal- there are always winners and losers I wonder about that- and kind of agree with the perspective of the film that in such a world, people are bound to be nasty and life to be brutish and short.

I think Buscemi and Miller both give good performances- its not easy to generate dynamism when you only have two characters on screen but they do. Miller is perfect for the role- I've never been too impressed by her as an actress but this was different- she is by turns flirtatious and indignant, Buscemi is his normal self. The direction is brilliant as well- because its fluid and there is a lot of movement- which means that you don't get bored by the fact that this is a film just about two people talking to each other- there is almost a constant dance between the two fo them.

The unsatisfying side to the film is that there are no redeeming qualities on show here- noone is nice, pleasant or friendly. If you are looking for a cheerful film this isn't it, but its an interesting one. Anyway anyone else seen it or have a view on it.
