Vladimir Bukovsky was horribly tortured by the Soviet Union in the 12 years he spent in Labour camps there. He has since become a stern advocate that communists be treated like the Fascists were after World War Two, he was disappointed with perestroika because he wanted a Russian Nuremberg trial after 1991. Anyway he is also very hostile to Putin- and he has returned to Russia for the first time to stand against Putin's nominee in the 2008 election. There is almost no chance he'll win- but what do people think overall of this- is he a quixotic fool battling against the forces of darkness and he'll never win, is he a Western stooge coming into take down a great Russian government or is this a sign for hope in Russia.
For what its worth I don't like Putin much, and I admire Bukovsky for surviving the horrors he survived.
