Alas, I watch the anime Final Fantasy. I'm a relative novice in the gaming world, though for a short while I did dabble in MMORPGs *ahem*

Currently, I'm trying to get my hands on Princess Maker 5 for PC.

I'm majorly a nerd, so... I've been playing for I think close to 5 years now.

We got our Nintendo when I lived "on the economy" in Germany, far from any English speakers and far from any television. So, I lived for the thing. The "habit" has continued to some degree ever since.

If you ever wanna try another mmorpg, I would personally recommend this one, but that's just because it's the one I play. It is considered harder than the others of the same sort, I don't know, I've never played them, and although they've changed it a lot since the game first came out, there is a large degree to which you have to play with other people, meaning, you have to schedule to play with others and find cooperative people to play with, in order to get things done.

I'm gonna be lazy and just ask (as opposed to looking it up) what is Princess Maker?

I used to play in high school, but after I spent almost every available hour on it through my exam leave and did pretty badly as a result I decided to quit before university started.
I did end up playing again at the end of term (after I wrote a paper on dependance on MMORPGs) but financially I don't think it's worth it, plus I hardly have time to play any games at all no, let alone FFXI in all its timesinking glory.

I have played a couple of other RPGs - FFXI is definitely harder, both in terms of actually playing and the amount of time you need to dedicate to it.

I don't know anything about Princess Maker I'm afraid.

When I first got married and moved in with my husband, which was where the game was- I wasn't working or taking any classes and he was gone all day. I would sit in front of that game all day every day. I would get up with him around 7am, start playing as soon as he left and still be playing when he got home around 6pm. I'd run and throw clothes in the washing machine or walk around the living room with the vacuum cleaner while I was playing. But, really I just couldn't stop. Some people get far worse about it. They stop sleeping even. Over time, I scared myself and decided that I would never ever get that way again so I try to remain pretty disinterested in the game. Doesn't mean I don't play anymore, just not like I did- and I think most importantly, I don't play with other people. That's what sucks people in so that they throw their entire life into those games. The interaction with other people makes it seem like you are not, in fact, spending 20 hours a day playing a video game.

But, yeah, ffxi definitely time consuming, and everybody says it's much much more so than any of the others, I think they are trying to change that.
